My Monkey

There is one major undertaking for a 5mo old that will inevitably become the major undertaking of the parents as well: building a hearty immune system.

Gray is working very hard on his white blood cell count. While he spends his days with other adorable baby worms in what is honestly the most immaculate and sanitized of environments, he may as well be cavorting with Ebola monkeys.

As his loving family, we are lucky enough to share these diseases resulting in my missing a combined four days of work last month alone! I'm only whining for the appearance of things because, let's be honest, holding my 16lbs son is only the best way to spend my day. :)

Go Go Gadget Baby

Yesterday, he was 1 month into this life, and he suddenly started moving!  Wriggling around in a general desired direction and punching the air (and erroneously his own face), with a power unseen before.  While he is most often calmed with the kinetic, he is a very typical newborn.

We are halfway into my two month maternity leave and I must admit I am counting the days. I know I will rue otherwise, but the day-to-day of living with a newborn (and waking with a newborn) takes its toll on your ability to stop and smell the roses.  The schedule they keep is disorienting and making the whole endeavor difficult.
